At SANTOS Holdings, we are thrilled to share that our latest project, “Blue Ocean,” has been featured in the World Journal. (Chinese: 世界日報; pinyin: Shìjiè Rìbào) a U.S. newspaper printed in Chinese. The most influential Chinese language newspaper in the United States and one of the largest Chinese language newspapers outside of Greater China, with a daily circulation of 350,000. The newspaper is headquartered in the Whitestone neighborhood of Queens in New York City.
Blue Ocean: A Hub for Health, Leisure, and Culture
Blue Ocean project is our commitment to creating a space where the community can gather, enjoy leisure activities, and promote health and wellness. Located at 100 Division Street, this 100,000-square-foot facility will feature a wide range of activities, including bowling, ping pong, yoga, archery, and even a spa. We want the center to be a place where families, teenagers, and seniors can come together, enjoy activities, and connect in meaningful ways.
Our founder and chairman, Richard Du, shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with World Journal. Born in Vietnam with ancestral roots in Guangdong, Richard has deep ties to the Chinese community. In the interview, he expressed his concerns about the growing issues of mental health, generational gaps, and the need for spaces that foster community engagement in Chinatown. Blue Ocean project is a direct response to these challenges, aiming to create a place where people of all ages can thrive—whether it’s by staying active or simply spending time together.
Preserving Cultural Heritage in a Changing Chinatown
We understand the concerns of Chinatown’s residents regarding real estate development and gentrification. Richard Du emphasized in the interview that our project is committed to preserving the cultural assets of this historic neighborhood. The murals on the current site, which feature the twelve zodiac signs, are beloved by locals and tourists alike, and we will ensure these pieces of art remain an integral part of Blue Ocean. This project isn’t just about new development—it’s about honoring Chinatown’s rich history and enhancing the well-being of the community.
Our Commitment to the Future
The feature in World Journal has inspired us to continue pushing forward with our mission to build spaces that strengthen community bonds and promote holistic health. As the project continues its development, we look forward to completing Blue Ocean by 2026. This is just one step in our broader goal to support the Chinatown community and provide spaces where people can connect, enjoy, and thrive together.
